1983 Stringer 400 tilt worm gear shaft issue

I have pulled the clutch pack. Pulled the worm gear,pulled motor and hammer blow cplg. The shaft will not slide out of the intermediate housing ? Is this normal or not ?

If I remember correctly, the trim motor needs to come out. Its been 10 years since I last had my stringer and about 15 sinch I pulled the tilt mechanism apart

There's a bushing in there too ... I've not pulled one before, but sounds like there's something still in yours.

not normal - should slide right out the back- probably a piece of broken roll pin jamming it

Thanks Sterndrive how many roll pins are in the shaft. I see two no the worm gear end.
