I am sorry I have no pics. Comes with a VERY nice trailer, gel coat is a cream color and looks very nice. Out drive is a SEI merc alpha one replaced in 2005. Has merc 228 V8.

Boat does not appear to be updated but in overall good shape. The guy is flexible but not that flexible. What would be a good price ballpark?

Will the 305 228HP be a dog? I was hoping for a 350 260HP.

Sea rays in my area for some reason always go a little high.

Twenty-eight year old with a six year old leg is not worth 6k in my neighborhood, nor any that I know of. You may not like travelling around, but there should be plenty of deals west of you along the lake area, as well as, southwest of you. 6K should be something in the mid 90's with good and recent service records. It's a buyers market!

What would be a ball park range? 3500-4500 tops? I really have no clue. NADA boats is so low people do not take it seriously.

I can only compare an 1981 SRV 245 went for $7000. It looked at it and this 225 is in the same condition overall.

After a good seatrial, and checking the floor, hull, and condition of engine and outdrive, making an offer in the $4500 range is valid. Plan on doing plenty of updates, even though it may look good visually. Old Sea Ray's can provide decades of good service, but condition is everything. The 228 will handle your basic needs, but there will always be the wish for greater power and faster time getting up on plane, specially with the latest fuel prices. The smaller V8 will actually cost more on the workload of getting up on plane. Does it have trim tabs?

Hmmm. Do a web search for the same model and year, check yachtworld and iboats classifieds. That's what OTHER PEOPLE think their boats are worth, not what they'll sell for.
Look at NADA value and total up the options that are included in the sale. http://www.nadaguides.com/Boats/1983/Sea-Ray-Boats
NADA prices don't reflect the current economy so I usually figure a realistic private sale price around 50% of low retail.
In this case it looks like the bottom line will be in the $2- 2,500 range for the boat. Do you think the trailer's worth the difference? Probably not. That's a LONG way from $6K and as mentioned, it's a buyers market.
Whatever you do, check everything out and TEST RUN the boat in the water before committing to anything. Offer a 10% good faith deposit for a seatrial, refundable if you're not satisfied for any reason, then put it in writing for BOTH partys to sign before proceeding.
If you succeed in making a deal, make him sign a document that requires him to satify any leins or mortgages held on ther boat, and personally guarantee it is free and clear of encumbrances. There are many horror stories of boats purchased only to discover the new boat owner has assumed the previous owners leins (which is perfectly legal under maritime law).

I would say the trailer compares to those sold locally for $1500. It is a local brand of trailer known for being very high quality and built in our town. Other than some weather checking of the tires the trailer looks very nice.
