Found 1983 Sea Nymph Bass Attacker with a '83 50 hp Mercury and trailer. Boat runs good with no leaks. I would like to get it and restore it, but don't really know the value of it. Anyone have any ideas? I'm kinda new to the boating world so any advice would help.

Sea Nymph made some good hulls back in the day. I wish they hadn't been bought out by Lowe. We had a '87 aluminum 20' open-bow and loved it.

The hull has no leaks, that's a plus. Most of the value may be in the outboard if it's running well. The trailer and boat might be worth some money depending on the condition.

Post up some photos so we can see what you are working with, and welcome to the site.

Check out some starcraft restorations, there are tons of them and very similar to Sea Nymph boats as they were both started by the same family.

Welcome aboard. As with anything else, geography has a significant impact on boat values, so add your location to your profile when you get a chance. The help you receive will be better informed.

Thanks for the replies. I live in the Nashville, TN area. I can get some pics this weekend to post. He is asking $2500 for it. I have been in it on the water and it seems to perform well. Going to do a compression check on it this weekend.

Sounds like a good plan, compression is a great place to start on evaluating that outboard.

Talk him down to $1500-2k if you see any of the following:

-soft spots in the deck anywhere, check under the oil reservoir if it's a VRO
-rot on the transom wood, which may be covered by aluminum
-any flexing on the transom, it should not flex at all
-bad dents or other damage to the hull
-trailer issues like bearings, tires, rust or other problems
-missing title or parts to the boat

None of these alone are a dealbreaker, as much of it can be fixed with help from these forums.

I got my 16' Starcraft SS w/ 80hp Merc(in decent condition runs about 60% power) with good trailer for $1000 about a year ago.

Michigan is a buyer's market though, so this doesn't mean it's a bad deal at $2500 necessarily.

Good luck to ya!

$2500 seems a tad high to me. Unless I missed it you didn't give the size, but with a 50 I'll assume it's in the 16' range. It's pretty old and there are lots of comps. Most of them likely aren't that well made, but they still dilute the market. Not necessarily saying you shouldn't buy it, but I think I'd be more comfy at a couple grand or less.

The boat is 16' and measures 72" wide. Trailer is in good shape just needs another paint job because I just like things to look good. My plan, if i get it, is to restore the boat for a fishing/duck hunting boat. I know the deck was replaced 5 years ago, but I would take it all the way down to the hull and give it a total make over anyway. I know the title is clean and the hull has no dents or visible damage. You fella's know anything about '83 mercury's as far as if they were good motors or not? Its a 50hp 4 cyl with two carbs, electric start, power trim, thunderbolt ignition. Thanks again for all the input.
