Hi I have a mercury 200 black max that is having issues pumping water, I replaced the water pump and still no difference, pulled the exhaust cooling off and ran water to the line. On the right hand side there is a hole that the water just pours out of but if I plug hole with my finger it will run to motor fine. Any idea what this is for? Can I plug it with jb weld?

It has to be about a quarter inch so big enough to not let hardly any water up to the motor. And it's kind of hard to explain exactly where on the right side it is but I have a mariner 150 that's ripped apart and I looked at that and It has no hole there

No not exactly I only work on boats when something on my own breaks lol. But what would go in that hole? It's an offset hole so it's not perfectly circle to where it's missing a bolt or anything like that

I don't think its anything to do with the popper valve because I can disconnect the line right where it goes into the block and it still doesn't change anything. The hole is by where the exhaust coolers are if that helps

I would have to see a picture of what you are talking about, because right now I can't picture any hole on that side of the motor?

Just a follow up on what I did... stopped into local marina and showed them and they said that the gasket for the water housing was most likely bad and I had the options of either pulling the power head back off or try jb weld and see if it will hold. I jb welded it and now working like a champ
