Before I get too far ahead of myself, I want to determine the PROPER way to install the link rod on the trigger assy. The pictures below are the way it came apart. I want to make sure this is how it is SUPPOSED to be, and not that the link rod is actually supposed to come up through the slot in the middle of the trigger...

Thank you, it seemed suspicious and I didn't have any manuals at my disposal that indicated how it should be installed...

that rod only moves the trigger when the chocke is applied, on mine, i dont think it even does that but i have no problems starting it. Reason I replied is I'm wondering how your making out with your 25Hp conversion..or have you given up on it?

Ha ha, well... Since I am doing a total rebuild on this motor, I thought it would be best to have it running proper in its original configuration. After a ridiculous amount of delay due to parts issues (I don't even want to start) I finally got everything and put it together. Yesterday, I didn't have much time, but I can say it starts, and runs! I'll have to go through and do a complete link/sync/mixture adjustment but, at least I can say it runs! The 25hp conversion is something to tinker with down the road. I just want to know that if I ever need to sell this motor, I can put the 18 carb back on to keep it original for the next owner. Give the 25 carb to some other nut looking to turn his 18 to a 25.

lol, i think im that nut. Looking for a BC1C now, my 18 had a BC2A on it( frig knows), ive drilled my main jet out to .067 but apparently my carb isn't the right one. Wanna part with yours? lol

nope, it's been strictly bucket run for its break-in period. This motor is used twice a year, it used to belong to a relative, but he can't seem to stop destroying it. He blames the motor, and after the motor seized he's given up. He says it's my problem now. I have a feeling once he sees how its running, he'll possibly buy it back. Since I know he runs full bore as soon as there's ignition, I'm doing a 10+ hour bucket break-in(in half hour increments). Not too bad when there's other projects going on around the house that I can take a break from every 5-10 minutes and stroll past the motor changing its rpm... It's running great so far, smoking like nothing else on this 32:1 mixed quicksilver dino oil. You should go read the update I posted on the checkvalve forum...http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=508050

ya, ive been following that one. So its an improvement for sure eh? how much were the check valves, where'd ya get em. If they made yours run better, should do the same for me, as we have the same beast.

lol matth, you're pulling this thread further and further away from its original post. I'll put the checkvalve details in the original check valve posting
