I have a 1983 Johnson outboard, J75TLCTE.
The tilt and trim motor runs, but nothing moves, it worked fine last year. If you go and try to move the motor by hand, it won't budge at all. It would also move great by hand last time I had it in the water.
Also, I've got OMC controls, when you move it to reverse, it's nice and smooth and easy, forward is sort of difficult. I believe it's the forward/reverse cable, but I wanted to know how to adjust those.
Forgot to mention, the motor was down, I released the pressure in the ram with the drain plug, then moved it up by hand. Now I'm trying to find something small enough that I can get fluid in there.
EDIT:
Alright, so here's the thing... When I bought this boat it had a leaky o-ring in the trim tilt, so I replaced it. And I refilled it... Only, I was at a dock... So I had this funnel fashioned out of like some paper and another funnel... Apprently it was enough fluid to get me through all summer, cause it worked.
So I went to the motor, opened the drain on the bottom port side, it was just a big flathead screw, and lifted the motor to the trail stop. Then I ran around my garage trying to find a better funnel, or someway to get fluid in there. I found a cap from some gear oil. Cleaned that up a bit, and it fit right on top of my hydraulic fluid bottle. Filled it up, works like a charm...
I'm sorry if I wasted anyone's time. That's just my bad...
There's no excuse for this, I deal with hydraulics day in and day out, I should have been smarter than that.
