Today when I go to throttle up the outdrive seems to slip and won't speed up. Almost like a transmission slipping in a car. At low speeds it seems fine but as it increase RPM increases and it slips.

Any help as to the problem in the outdrive.

My exhaust manifold bellow (Rubber bellow looking thing between exhaust manifold and pipe to outdrive) sprung a leak today would this cause this at all?

Is it possible it is low on oil and this would cause this?

Volvo 4 cyl with a OMC 270 outdrive.

Is it possible that it is the engine coupler that went bad?

Also someone stated it was the "dogclutchs "in the lower end?

Cant find this part or what this might be.
:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

Any help is appriciated

You have a Volvo 270 drive. On the top of the drive is a dip stick to check the oil in the drive(30 weight)It sounds like the hub on the prop has broken loose.Get another prop and try that.
You don't have a shift dog in that drive.
The exhaust hose is not a problem other than leaking.If your gonna keep that boat get a service manual.Jerry

Yup, sounds like a spun hub to me. Get a new prop. There is no engine coupler in that system so that's all that would really slip. If it were inside the drive you'd have other problems

Thank you all for the help. Pulkling it out of water today and going to go to work checking fluid and it sounds like changing a prop also

Exact same symptoms my 270 had. My prop was a bit scarce and a little expensive, but I did find one. Now I have a spare and need to get it to a prop shop to have it re-bushed.
