1983 bayliner capri AQ125 A Volvo

The subject motor runs well at speed, but tends to die when given gas from idle. Spark plugs old, but not worn or dirty. Carb taken apart and cleaned, all seems to be in good condition. Carb work helped some, but did not cure problem entirely. Any suggestions? Local dealer no help.

Sounds like you still have an issue with the accelerator pump in the carb. On some it can be adjusted. If you rebuilt the carb, there in the instructions is how to tune it. It may need a rod bent or moved to another hole in the linkage. Check to see you have fuel squirting solid streams into the throat of the carb continually while the throttle is opened thru it's full range. The hesitation is from the engine getting a good gulp of air with no fuel, causing a slight lean condition as you open the throttle. Note that a weak ign can cause these same symptoms. Put a full tune-up on it before you start fiddling with adjustments.

The 125's are touchy about their tuneups also. They like new plugs, points, condensers, caps and rotors. They also need the dwell set to the higher end of their spec. Timing has to be reset after getting the dwell set. Then the mixture has to be right or you will have problems.
There is also that timing belt on the front of the engine, is it worn out?

I Bought A Circulating Pump For My Aq125b And For Some Reason It Dont Fit. Could It Be That The Aq125a Use A Diffrent One Or Do They both Use The Same One? If So Does Any One Have One ? Or Want The Aq125a One
