Why not have your "friend" send you a picture of the one you are going to look at that may save you a bunch more time by getting an idea of it's condition before you drive that far.
I would not have asked for photos if there had been an obvious and easy solution. My friend moved recently and was told he is 10-14 days away from getting email and telephone service. Presently he has only a cell phone.
