Im picking up a sweet little baja 16ss tomorrow and i know nothing of these tower motors. Its a super clean boat and motor and is running fine so i would like to keep it that way. Usually i just run motors into the ground with minimal maintenance but im gonna try to keep this one alive. I know for starters the aluminum gas tank is crudded up so its running off a plastic tank. Is an inline fuel filter a good idea for these motors. Im not even sure how the aluminum tank would connect to the motor but im assuming its with a ball pump line. Ive never put a filter on one of these so im not sure if its a good idea.
Also what gas/oil combo is recommended. I usually use 87 with cheapo walmart tcw-3 oil. Ive never had an engine blow but im hearing horror stories on these motors so id like to try to safe guard it. I know im opening a can of worms but id like some recommendations.
Any other tips or suggestions to keep it in good shape would be welcome.
