1983 9.9 dies at high rpm

I just resurrected an 83 Evinrude 9.9. It starts first pull and idles beautifully. As I run it in my test barrel and give it some juice it will suddenly die and loose spark. Is this a coil problem or is there an other possible answer to this dilemma?

Thanks for your assistance.

I'm thinking a wire going to the powerpack could be internally broken, fixed a guys motor in Kanata last year, same deal.

Wow thanks for the offer! Yes I loose spark on both, bring it into the shop let it sit, fiddle with the wires, pull it over and the spark is back. My experience so far is with older motors so am not so familiar with coils outside the flywheel.

Well I have a spare powerpack if you want to try it, I work off St.Laurent.
