1983 15 hp evinrude pull cord

does any one know the procedure to put a new pull cord on to start the engine. i dont want to have the spring let loose on me.

Not sure on your model, but most are the same. Remove the starter, pull the old rope out all the way, clamp the pulley down so it don't turn and remove the rope. Make sure you use the correct new rope and make sure it is the correct length. Duck soup. I just did my 18 HP.
