1983 140 hp johnson tilt trim problem

We got a problem, took are nitro boat with a 1983 140 hp johnson out today ran great except when we took it out of the water. We were not able to lower the motor back down. we were able to raise it but cant lower it. Does anyone have any idea what is going on or what we can do to fix it. Thanks for all the help

Do you have a two wire or a three wire trim system. If it is three wire put the ground wire on the - (negative) side of a good battery and take one of the other wires and touch it to the hot side. The wires should be black(groundwire),blue(up wire) and green(down). Ground the black wire to the battery and touch the green to the positive side of the battery.<br />Hope this helps, reply back and let us know what happens.
