i have an 83 115 that i have just had the carburetors off and apart, rebuilt. there are plastic throttle rods between each carb. is running much more smoothly and almost perfect with muffs. I built a tank to run it in and other issues apparent while running in the tank. Compression has been checked - all good at 115-116 except #6 is low but expected to come up with use. #6 was at 62 now 70. If #6 doesnt come up that is a different problem. The cylinder wall looks good and is not scored. The rings are most likely stuck in the landing from no use.
do i check verify the timing first or adjust the idle on the carbs first?
do i disconnect the throttle completely to adjust the idle position on all the carbs and
adjust each carb while the throttle cable is disconnected?
do i disconnect (loosen) all those connections on the plastic rods and allow each carb to come back to lowest idle position then re-tighten?
also.. the engine at this point is idling too fast 1200 in neutral and about 900 in gear. and will go into forward and reverse in the tank but any input from the throttle causes it to die. I did get it to rev in gear while fiddling with the choke but still coughed while first trying to rev up.
I have a Sealoc manual, and have read it several times. The photos in the manual on this section are terrible as they describe the process on 10 different models. It explains the procedure, but names parts, that i don't know what or where they are with no labels on the blurry photos from the 70s.
