My '82 Bayliner came with twin Volvo AQ-145 4-cyl engines, both of which have about given up the ghost. They are terribly cold blooded and really hard to start when cold. I'm not getting a spray of oil through the carbs and all over the flame arrestors. Oil drips ouot the front of the flame arrestor cover and onto the alternator belt, spraying the engine compartment with an oll film.

Is this a rings issue?

Am I better just rebuilding these or should I go for a whole repower? Boat's only worth about $20K, but if I don't repair the engines, I'll not be able to sell the thing, so I'm sort of stuck.

Suggestions???

Re: 1982 Volvo AQ-145B engines

you do not say how big it is but around here at that age NO boat of that type range carrys much value

There are a ton of twin Searays that go beging at 10000 because of the cost of the upgrade to current power

So generaly the only people i have seen do love the boat and are keeping the boat long enough to make it worth it
