I had made a previous post about my tilt slowly bleeding down, however there was no external fluid leakage. My main issue was that the fill plug was frozen shut. i have allen key sockets and when I put the socket in, I lightly tapped it to make sure it seated properly and the cover broke and left a nice 1/2" hole in the center of the cover. I used some steel putty to fill the hole and it seems to be holding but now I cant add fluid and it still leaks down. there are no old covers I can find on ebay. Any suggestions on how to fix this mess? could I take the unit off, take the manual release valve out, turn the unit upside down and fill it that way or would it harm the unit by overfilling it?

Post a couple pics from close and far of the pump unit. Allow us to see exactly which unit as not everyone remembers 45 year old stuff.
