1982 Evinrude 90hp exhaust spitting....is this normal?

1982 Evinrude 90hp. Started up fine after last winterizing. Runs fine, good pressure on water outlet. I was just looking at it while it was running and notice a fair amount of spray coming out of the exhaust holes at the top of the lower unit. Is this normal? It has probably done it all along, I just don't remember noticing it before. May be a dumb question, but hey, I own a boat afterall.
