Hello all, My brother and I recently got a 1982 evinrude 15hp pull start. When we got the pull cord was unable to pull however the gear selection worked smoothly. Sprayed some anti seize in the cylinders and was able to pull it and had spark.
Rebuilt the carb and it started up and it went through all gears and realized the telltale was broken. Removed the powerhead and replaced the telltale and thermostat and gasket for that and the gasket for powerhead.
Upon reassembling the motor no longer has any spark.
I tested the ohm reading on coil plugs and got reading. However when i tested the black white wires near the stator it did not get any reading? Would this be a bad stator? Could the powerblock be bad ?
Tried to disconnect kill switch and that did nothing for spark. All the wires under the flywheel look in good condition. Was some exposed wire but patched it all up and still no ohm reading ?
Also another problem was that the lower shift linkage no longer moves up or down. It worked fine when we took it off..?
Any help is appreciated.
