Is this motor worth re-powering? I took my Nitro 18' bass boat in for tuneup, etc and was told I have low compression in two cylinders. What's the best (lowest cost, best performance) way to get this boat back on the water? Any inherent problems with this model of motor that I should be aware of? Anyone have a replacement motor for sale?<br />Thanks for any help,

What are the compression numbers. I had a 1983 140, sold after 5 years, 2 years later new owner came back for a power pack. I have heard of some wrist pin failure. I would rebuild it, because engine makes a lot of power to weight. Use OEM pistons.

The 140 is a good engine.. What were the compression readings..? Have you been using decarbonizer every now and then? Could just be carbon in the ring lands? I would try that first depending on the compression readings.
