I have been having a hard time tracking down a used cylinder for the tilt assist. I have found new ones for the great price of around $400 plus and for that cost I could just buy a aftermarket tilt trim package for a few more. Does anyone know if there was a different cylinder that could be used or an alternative to it. After long day on the water the motor gets a little heavy to lift up and down.

I know exactly what you mean and feel for ya. The cost of a new tilt assist is outrageous and they are hard to fine. Even harder to find a good used one! My solution was to find a blown up engine that had a PTT unit and scavanged it. Though in my case the remote control already had the trim button on it. You might consider doing the same.

BTW, Wellcome to the forum!
