I went and looked at this boat this morning. I took a pass on it because it really is too big to keep at home and trailer when I want to use it. Here is a couple of links from craigslist from the metro Detroit area. Price has been dropped from $5100 to $3200. The floor is very solid although covered with ratty carpet. Transom has been replaced but is p/t plywood and is bare wood. Only rot I could really see is in cuddy top surface on the left v berth surface. The hull looks good..no wacks, dings or dents. The outdrive is ratty looking, sacrificial anode is wore and paint is off prop and drive in areas. Trim sender wires are pinched/cut. 470 motor with no alt. upgrade and 3" heat exchanger (think thats what its called). Oil is up to the full mark on dipstick. I took a fair amount of pictures and if anyone is interested drop me line and I will email them. Dan...519-734-0297

That 470 motor would be a deal killer..even with the alternater upgrade..

There is a 22 foot Islander out here in really good shape and a great deal..but of course...people expect Christmas presents..again geeeesh

I dunno Kev, they say $1600 "or best offer" in the ad, so it might be worth going to check out. Explain in detail how much work it is to replace a transom, the high cost of fiberglass and resin, paint, sealing materials, labor, etc. and offer them 800 bucks. See if they bite.

Then bring it home, yank the engine, seal up the transom, add a bracket and a nice pair of outboards! Easy as pie! :D

I wish that boat was close to Oregon. I would love to up grade from my 21 foot chieftain to a 26 footer. That would be great for ocean fishing, there are many days I am kept in with a bar restriction of 22 foot.
I could go tuna fishing with a 26footer. Maybe some day I will get a bigger boat. A 26 foot would trailer ok with a 3/4 ton pickup.
