Hi guys, I am in the process of changing the exhaust from logs to center risers and would like to know about the mounting of the alternator. The log exhaust has the bolt holes for the mounting bracket on the bottom and the center riser has none. I would like to know if there is an easy way for this conversion. I know in the automotive field there are brackets to mount the alternator lower but that is old school today. Thanks Buz

Sorry about that, I thought the t260s was the boat model number. The company I worked for back in the mid 80's had 26 Nova for sale. Got to do a demo run on it. Fun boat.

Now, back to the problem at hand, could you post a picture of the engine with the old manfolds showing the thermostat housing? There are some changes you have to do going from the log to center rise, just want to make sure what you have as far as thermostat housing.

After I posted, I thought this might be faster. Is this what you have ?
There is more to that conversion than just some alternator brackets.

Does your thermostat housing and pluming look like this picture?

Re: 1981 wellcraft nova ll t260s

Don, thanks for your quick reply, your picture is exactly what I have. I have a set of osco risers and plan on buying another set, the first set I have are the risers with 15 degree outlets, I also have the 80 degree elbows and the thermostat housing for the conversion. The thermostat housing is for the conversion as I needed the both inlet and outlet (main water hoses) to be on the same side. I just want you to know I have been in auto repair with my own shop for a long time. I said this (not to be smart in any way) but to let you know that I am well equipped to even make the necessary hardware I need. I do know that I need to make brackets for the water separators and for the rear starter solenoids which seems pretty easy (the new manifolds don't have). I was hoping that there was a kit that is not too expensive to make things easier. Thanks Buz

Don, thanks for your help, I just did a trial fit and the manifolds and elbows fit perfectly. The manifolds give me more room to access the heads and I will be able to make the necessary brackets without a problem. Thanks again for your time BuzSAM_1949.jpg
