I bought a used 1981 (I believe by serial #) Suzuki DT 9.9. It runs fine but I don’t see it peeing water. I pulled the lower unit and and the impeller was like new (turned the drive shaft clockwise to make sure and set the blades in the right curvature). There is a tiny hole at the rear of the engine that I believe is where the water should come out but not positive if this is the right spot. I ran a small pin up ther to make sure it wasn’t clogged by dirt dobbers. Any ideas? And am I looking for water at the right spot?

use some compressed air to blow up the tell tail while running on the muffs or in a tank to see if that gets the TT to flow again

Well my air compressor is not working but I tried some weed eater line. I can run the engine for 3-5 minutes and the head temp is around 210-220 with a laser thermometer. It took it 5 minutes to get to that temp. I’m just going off car temps and seems ok but what is too hot?

antifreeze does not boil at the same temp of plain water,
so over the boiling point of water is not good.
your motor is getting too hot
it has cool water being pumped into it , or at least it should have plenty of cool water pumped in to keep it cool

So there are two water inlets on the side of the lower unit that lead right to the opening beneath the water pump impeller. They are clear all the up to the impeller. Then there is some type of water inlet on the bottom of the flat fin like piece. It has a tube that runs up just beneath the side of the water pump housing. When I put muffs on the two adjacent inlets with the lower lying off the motor, I don’t see water coming out the water pump outlet. I can even shoot air in the TT and it comes out at the bottom of water pipe. Not sure what’s going on.

maybe someone put the wrong impeller in there
Just got to thinking about this: the curvature of the impeller blade should probably arc in the opposite direction of the direction the shaft turns. So that they make a cupping type shape to push the water up. Maybe I have it tuned the wrong way. Thanks for all your help. If this doesn’t work, I’m gonna order a new impeller.
