I have been looking at all the different sites with parts breakdowns on Evinrude motors.
I have a 35hp electric start, long shaft with remote controls. I would like to change it to tiller controls.
It is a model number E35ELCIG, serial number E0004143.
Is there a part number for a kit with everything I need? Or do I have to “pick and pull” from dealers and salvage yards?
Thank you,
Bill

A complete parts motor. Not the junk motors that are parts taken off of already. 1 old motor in 50,000 will have all the perfect parts you will need. With a wiring diagram you will need. Not a chance.

Your motor is a 1981.....the swap is a little complex. Just find a good used tiller motor and sell yours.

the casting between the mid section and the clamp bracket is different; you should be able to find a cheap engine with a broken lower unit, blown power head, etc. really cheap. Take the tiller specific parts and put it on your motor. Not really a huge deal honestly, just finding the parts is the challenge.

A $100 donor motor is your best bet.-----It involves removing lower and upper mounts to switch out the parts.----Not super challenging for those familiar with tools.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions and thoughts, but the original question remains unanswered.
Is there a kit part number for a conversion from remote to tiller controls on a 1981 35hp Evinrude?
I have been researching it and know what work is involved, but I’d like to buy everything I need all together.
I haven’t been able to find a donor motor anywhere near central or northern New York.

NH.....they ship.
Could call and have him describe it.
Finding one with a blown power head typically $100 or $150.

Craigslist, offer up, Facebook marketplace.....nextdoor?

Hunt around, their out there.

Your search is NOT limited to the 81 model year.-----Other years 25 and 35 share the parts.----There was never a kit offered to look after your project.---Might have a couple of used steering brackets here.-

Not that I'm aware of.....here is the breakdown of all the accessories. If you hunt around you might find everything. Cost will be ugly.

Tim is an East coast guy.....he may be able to help her for a used one.

Good luck

Thank you saltchuckmatt! I’ve been looking at that exact breakdown for months. But all of a sudden it popped up with the part numbers that I need. No, there isn’t one number for a complete kit, but I can piecemeal it. ( $$$$$$$$$$$$$&&& )
Don’t know why I didn’t see it before.
Maybe I didn’t want to believe….
