1980 Evirude 25 water pump question

As the title says I have a 1980 Evinrude 25 hp. Getting ready to go to the beach fishing for the first time since last year. Long winter!!! Put the motor on the boat this morning and started it up to make sure all was well. Started and ran like a champ but no water from the pee hole! if the thermostat was stuck closed would that prevent water coming from the pee hole? I thought you should get a stream from the pee hole all the time even if the thermostat was closed, is that correct?

Correct----Perhaps some wee critter built a home in the tube.----Clean it and test run

No

Yes

Start by checking the whole telltale system for a blockage,: the outlet nipple the hose and the elbow on the exhaust cover . (Take care the elbow is plastic I think)

Check your motor temp to see if it's overheating.
