1980 Evinrude 35hp Won't Start!!!

Hey everyone, I have a 1980 Evinrude 35hp motor. When I turn the key I hear a click but it's not coming form the starting system. I'm not sure why it doesn't start, I have done all of the troubleshooting ideas form the manual and it said that it was a bad starter solenoid. I went and got a new one and it does the same thing. Please if you have any ideas let me know. THANKS

Assuming you have a good battery, I would disconnect the starter and jump it straight from the battery to see if it works, if it won't go then you have a bad starter.

Make sure you have cleaned all your connections including the ones on the starter.
