I recently bought a 14 aluminum boat with a 9.9 sea king motor. I got the boat home and put the motor in a barrel of water. The motor started in two pulls. The motor has not been ran in three months. There was a lot of smoke. It reminded me of my lawnboy when I start it up. Once I put it in gear the smoke seemed to quit down some. Could this smoke be caused by improper mix of oil to gas? Could it just be that the motor had been sitting without starting or do these motors just smoke alot.
