1980 50hp gas mileage? AL prop ok or SS better?

I have acquired an old 50 hp and was wondering how they do on fuel. I have a fairly flat bottom boat that is 18' long and weighs about 1300 pounds with all aboard on a normal day. Will I get the 5-7 mpg most new 2S 50's seem to get in the boat tests?

It is not a speed boat so I was considering running a 4 blade alum prop. An real advantage to SS for a boat that will probably do 28-30 WOT?

Any body running a permatrim or other "wing" on these and what have been the results?

Thanks for the help on all the questions.

i'm a little skeptical of an 18 ft. boat weighing 1300 pounds loaded - but first you need to check the current max rpm with a tachometer and post your current propellor pitch .

Maybe 1500 lbs max as the boat is a 1960 Eldorado by Lonestar and it weighs only 750lbs. I am more interested in approximate gas mileage. Any ideas?
