I went in and assembled new drive shaft lip seals and all components that would keep the lower unit oil from leaking into the water pump.
Ran the engine in a lake, ran perfect. Came back and noticed the lower unit oil good but oil/water coming out of the exhaust hole at the bottom. I then
lowered the lower unit and a massive amount of "goo" oil/water/maybe fuel came out. I could smell fuel in the mixture.
I bought the engine used so who knows what the guy did before I owned it. I always follow the oem service manual and spec's but I'm at
a loss on this issue.
How would fuel get in this mess? Not a lot but I smell it.
Any thoughts?
thanks
