1980 25 HP evinrude questions?

Hi all I have a 1980 evinrude outboard at least I was told it is a 1980, Does this motor require a shear pin? # 2 what plugs are best for this motor?<br />Also i was told to put 2 oz of marvel mystic oil for every 6 gals of gas plus the 2 cycle oil also. Do you guys think marvel mystic oil helps the motor/ thanks Fishforit

It does not have a shear pin. It has a rubber hub in the prop that serves to protect the lower unit, if you strike something in the water. The recommended spark plug is Champion QL77JC4 gapped at .030. I, and others, have found that the old recommendation of .040 works best. So that's where I would gap them at. Forget the mystery oil, you don't need it. Just use a TC-W3 rated oil at 50:1 ratio and you'll be fine.
