The stator reads bad, so I am replacing it.

I notice now, the stator wiring is hooked up differently than my SELOC manual says it should be.

RW/BW is connected where R/B should be and vice versa. Should that matter?

I have seen it run good, but wonder if I should put them where the chart says they should be?

The general manuals that cover more than one model or year may not be exactly correct for every unit. I believe the wires you are talking about are AC current so it should not matter which way they are as long as the red is on red and blue is on blue. My engine has the terminals at the box labeled in small print (hard to see if you do not know they are there). You might take a closer look and see if yours are labeled.

Having said all that, I would ask a local repair shop if you can get a diagram from their merc manuals or ask them if it matters. You might offer a little cash money for the advise, but it is better than damaging expensive electrical parts if we are wrong.

Hope this helps
Mike
