1979 Merc 402 40HP water pump where?

Is the impeller behind the prop on this model or is it on the drive shaft in the foot??
Motor is not peeing. I can pull 25" vacuum with a vacuum gun inserted in the pee outlet. Don't understand that. Couldn't duplicate on 2 other motors. Why vacuum there?

sounds like your telltale hose or fittings are plugged with poop. use a wire or compressed air to purge

I cleared the tubing back to the outlet on the fuel pump housing. Will have to try to clear it from there back. Not sure how the plumbing goes after that.

its the rubber hose from the telltale spout to the powerhead that gets blocked

Thanks I'll check that area. Was surprised to see the water routed through the fuel pump on this model.
