Hey fellas, looks like a good warm weekend coming so I'am thinking about checking out a possible carb problem (posted a few weeks ago) stalling/flooding at low rpm. My question is.... before i get started ,watt can i expect to buy beforehand and some do's and dont's would be helpful as I'am an electrician by trade but i can do shady mechanicing in a pinch. (always in one) I'am almost certain it's a float/needle gone bad or got trash in it,do i need to rebuild the carbs? The boat (79 charger)was just in the shop before i bought it was bogging down at wot....recipted sez they replaced stator and compression 130 on all cylinders except #2 and #5 were 125 lake tested ran fine, they had also repaired the gas tank(owner sez they told him the screen had fallin to the bottom so they soldered it so it wouldnt do that again ? ) anyway iam getting away from my question.....i doubt i can get a manual before the weekend but i would like to try to get watt i need to clean and or replace the needle and float if need be,or can i just take em apart and put it back like it was (the way i do on my vehicles lol ) any help is appreciated

Fishhunter,

I just rebuilt them on my Rude. Just BE READY for LOTS of small parts and very tedious hard to get into places.

Get the kits for the carbs FIRST! You do not want them sitting around torn apart. You will lose something.

Take your time. Do one at a time.

I would suggest you lay something light colored over your workbench. This makes it much easier to see small parts.

You can do it!
