Hi. I have a 1979 Evinrude outboard 55 HP and I belive that have a big problem with the lower carburetor. What I did: Compression good, spark fire good, timing good, new gaskets kit, new fuel pump, new prime bulb, rebuild carburetors. If i pull out the spark plag wir efrom the top carburetor, engine will stall. If I do the same for the lower carburetor, nothing happens. I swich carburetors betwen them. Now the top carburetor doesnt' do anything. CArburetors were rebuild and clean. Do I need to get a new lower carburetor, since it looks that gas doesnt' go through ? I understand that 1979 it's not an adjustable year.
Thank you!

Sounds like you have just lost spark to your lower cylinder. Get a new coil and put it on. They are pretty cheap and you can order one right here. Two bolts and you are done.

The problem followed the carb when he swapped them, making it a carb issue, not a coil issue.

Completely dissassemble the carb again and rebuild it by the book. Make sure it is SPOTLESS clean. Blow out all orifices and passages. Gotta be something in there.

Also check all linkages to make sure they're opening and closing in synch.

Thanks but still not working. Carb is been cleaned up and rebuilt for about 4 times now. Nothing else I can do to it. Linkages OK . I can run the boat on the lake. On slow speed tries to stall. Higher speed (high rpm) works all right. After a while tries to stall, but with a push of the ignition key (choke), problem is solve. So, I'm not able to go slow. There is anything else I should look or is time for a new carb?
