bowfisher your tale tale just lets u know that your pump is pumping. if u can take ther4mostat out and see if water is pumping there, that is water that has gone through the motor. also if u are getting the temp reading from a gage it could be wrong just a thought. hope this helps and u get to fish your tourney.:joyous:

sand or silt, maybe. A quick potential fix is to pull off the l.u., and push water up the tube with a garden hose or pump to try and flush it (Try the male end of a hose quick release.) If removing the the t.stat, can try flushing down as well. The more time-consuming fix is to pull off the head cover and clean out water passages (maybe the exhaust cover as well).

Thanks for the tips guys I still have the tstat out and the plate holding it out I'm gonna try to hook my water muffs up and see if water is coming out the Tstat hole and I'm also gonna try pushing water through the tstat hole I know I have got to have a blockage going on just finding it and fixing it as soon as possiable is the problem

I removed the tstat and tried forcing water up thought the foot with muffs I never got water to come out of the tstat hole I can also push water through the tstat hole and I don't get any water out of the exhaust relief holes I believe that is where it is stippes up I'm willing to bet dirtdobbers got in there the next question is how to clear it out

You want to find out if the pump is pumping. You also want to find out if water is circulating through the powerhead. Using muffs won't get you there.

In addition to trying the procedure I mentioned, test the water pump by removing the l.u. and immersing it in a tub. Spin the shaft clockwise and see if water is pump up through the grommet where the tube would pick it up. If the pump isn't working, you obviously need to fix it (typically an impeller). Or could be the intake is blocked.

If you can't push water up the the water tube through the powerhead using a hose (lower unit removed), you have to find the blockage in the powerhead -- free flow would mean the water moves up the tube and out in the leg. There should be a good flow exiting down the leg.

If there is a blockage in the water passages in the powerhead and you can't flush it out with the hose, you need to remove the head cover and perhaps the exhaust cover, and clean out the water passages.

It's pumping water fine and coming out the pee hole it's just not getting through the whole motor there is a blockage somewhere it's also not coming out of the exhaust relief port. I know it doesn't come through there all the time only when the thermostat is open but it's not even doing that

Still a bit of a newbie here, but I think what oldboat meant, was to take off the lower unit, and use a hose to push water up the tube in the leg to see If it comes out the thermostat hole.. If the engine isn't running, the pressure with muffs on won't help because the impellor vanes will be blocking the water flow, so it won't go up the tube to the thermostat hole.. Have to remove the lower unit and hose directly into the water tube for this test to be accurate... It may get to the tell-tale, but does it make it to the thermostat hole?
