I have a 1979 35 that I bought last week for an incredibly low price. It wasn't running so, I rebuilt the carb, had to replace 1 ignition coil, and plugs to get it to start. This motor was an electric start with stick steering.
I have another 1979 35 that I bought for parts that was a tiller handle. The parts motor was a long shaft and the other motor is a short shaft. So......
Here is what I got. I took the powerhead off and the exhaust housing apart to get replace the bottom plate on the short shaft with the tiller arm so that the motor can be run on a jon boat. After I got everything reassembled, the motor won't crank. After checking the spark, there is no spark at the plugs.
I cannot figure out how a motor ran good 2 days ago won't start at all now.
Prior to starting the motor last week, I took the starter and wiring off the motor and replace it with the wiring from the parts motor. I also put the rewind off the parts motor on the good motor for starting and the kill switch on it.
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.
