So I recently acquired a 1979 Chrysler 140 that was in good running condition when removed in the late 80's. It's been sitting in a garage since removed. I was able to spin the flywheel by hand and then I hooked it up to a battery to check compression and found all cylinders to be between 150 and 155psi. Wondering if anyone has any insight on where to get decent replacement parts that aren't going to break the bank. I figured I would start by replacing the fuel lines, spark plugs, and water pump. I've never run a belt driven distributor before.....not sure how hard they are to service if something goes wrong on the water...anyone have experience swapping to a more reliable ignition system?

Do you have the controls ?-----Are you assuming that the distributor is not reliable ?

I have full controls. It's replacing my 1996 force 120. I've just never delt with a belt driven distributor before. Wasn't sure how easy it would be to service it the belt ever goes while I'm out on the water

Distributor ignition with belt is reliable but as racerone says change belt before start to run it.
The main problems with this ignition are if the Magna Power I CD box fails new aftermarket from CDI Electronics are expensive and there is a pre amp in the distributor instead of points and it is also expensive.
The good thing is that if one of this fail you can convert it to regular auto style ignition with a auto coil and points.
As you have the electronic distributor points will not fit to it as there is no cam lob at the rotor shaft.
But you can find an older distributor for a 4 cylinder engine with points and us it.
If the pre amp fails you can change to a distributor with points and use it to the Magna Power I CD box, cause the points can trigger the CD box.
MSD street fire box or equel can also replace the CD box, but I think they are expensive too.

Anyone have luck finding parts at reasonable price. Looking for waterpump FK1069, Distributor belt 85311 (57-f85311) and the lower unit screws (fill, vent and lower drain).

Not sure if it was the wrong screw. But it was a flat head screw with an o-ring at the bottom to drain the lower unit. That makes a whole lot of sense about the top being a crush washer for 1 time use
