1979 90hp distributor style

I just stumbled into a 1984 115hp powerhead complete with all wiring and carbs, supposidly just need to bolt up in place of my current powerhead. Here is my question, will the 1984 just bolt right up in place of my 1979 I-6? Will my cowlings still work or do I have to buy new cowlings?

It wil definately bolt right up. The cowlings for the 90, 115, 140, 900, 950, 1150, 1250, 1350, 1500, All the 99 CID Mercs are the same and interchangeable. Did the 115 come with the ADI (Distributerless) electronics?<br /><br />Craig

Will bolt up an be a MAJOR hp upgrade... so long as it comes with all the ignition and fuel stuff.<br /><br />-W

yes, it is complete, with the distributorless ignition. It has everything including the wiring harness still attached.<br /><br />LT A

then go ahead and bolt that puppy on. I'd love to be there to see your face the first time you punch it. The old 90 was putting ouot about 80 at the prop, so you will be getting a BIG power jump 80 - 115.<br /><br />Craig

I got her together. WOW! I am having a carb leaking issue that I am going to figure out but, havent yet. Man what a difference though.
