getting oil in lower unit.
replace the washers on the vent and fill plugs, oil still came out milky.
removed prop, water pump so I could see the seals and pressurized it to 15lbs.
it held the 15 psi all nite long. sprayed prop seals, drive shaft and shift rod with soapy water while moving them and saw no bubbles.
this thing bench tests fine.
a friend who is a old certified omc tech from way back says since its so old there may be some seal leakage under load as the case itself may be worn and the tolerances out of spec.
he advised me to change the seal and shift rod oring but not to mess with the prop seal as it may not seal correctly once its taken apart.
he says to change the oil in the middle of the season and it should be fine.
I have known this guy for 25 yrs and thats all he works on is johnyrudes.
any thoughts?
i want it to stop sucking in water
he say buy a new motor lol...
