1st time out with this boat. who knows how long since it had been run last. Ran great till end of 3 hr day and when pulling up to dock and then backing off, the outdrive between bell housing and outdrive is is now making a slight knocking noise. When I got home, started boat and was quite until it got warm. Noise goes away when turning steering all the way left or right.

Any Idea's?

Thanks
Darrell

easy enough to pull the top box with a few of the right tools. its worth the effort to rule out cross noise or a leaky bellows etc.

Is the drive popping up when you put it in reverse- these drives tend to do that and make a popping noise or clunk as it doesn't lock down. I am still having that problem with mine!
Joe

the noise is more a constant almost bearing sound, kind of a slight knocking and is coming from right between bell housing and outdrive. It does it in and out of gear. I have just replaced the bearings in the area just between lower unit and pivot point, the box the the screw for the steering screws in to.

Probably the bearing/bearings in the bellhousing are bad or even the ujoints could be making the noise. They are always turning when the engine is running.
