Hi guys. I am again at my Tower of Power trying to get a new key switch set up to fire the motor but not having much luck. I have two yellow striped wires AND a solid black wire coming off the rear of my lanyard switch near my throttle lever but I can`t figure out where they go on the key switch. There are two black with yellow stripe wires near each other on one side on the back of the switch and towards the other end (rectangular thin horizontal shape) there is a solid black wire coming out. I`ve ran across a bunch of diagrams but they only show 1 yellow wire and one black wire. I just got a new 3 way choke switch with the letters A B C M M I S (I think) on it and just swapped the wires from my old switch and it turns over like a bat outta hell but no sign of fire. I`ve tried hooking up the lanyard several ways to no avail. You guys got any ideas? Oh, also what if I just for a sec jumped a socket extension over from the thick yellow wire and nut to the thick red wire and nut on top of the solenoid to the lower left under the starter? Did I do any damage there at all and would that cause it not to get any fire? Thanks again

My best advice is always use a OEM factory switch, factory parts fit and work as they are designed to work. Every week someone has purchased a will fit switch or some other part and is trying to figure out why they can not make it work properly. It is very easy to burn up CD ign. parts by arcing or hooking a switch up wrong, that will more than make up the saving on the will fit part.

Here is a link for a standard ing. switch wireing;
continuousWave: Whaler: Reference: Ignition Switch As you can see the black yellows should go to the ing. switch and the switchbox on the motor. The black should go to ground from the battery. the picture shows both black yellows going to the ing. switch and your setup has them both on the kill switch, which dose not make much diffrence as long as both are tyed together some where in the wireing. The kill switch shoud be open untill it is triped and puts a short/ground on the black yellows to kill the motor and spark to the plugs. JMO
