Hi all this has been an on going problem and have just been chasing it for a few seasons trying to figure it out but I'm stumped. I've converted the distributor to electronic and have a brand new coil. All plugs and wires are new, and carb has a recent rebuild. After the boat gets hot and sits for a few minutes it will not fire. It will hit but immediately dies. Any and all suggestions would be awesome as I am about to wits end on this thing!

Have you tried advancing the throttle slightly while in the throttle only position?

Next time it does it see if you're getting voltage to the coil from the ignition switch.

a good place to start would be w/ mercruiser service manual #3. ya can find it here. look on page 1C-6 for a start (no pun intended. 1c6 is the beginning of engine cranks over, but won't start or hard to start). it's the trouble shooting part of that s/m.
another thought would be the aftermarket distributor ya put on. be sure that's done proper too...

might make sure service manual #3 is for yer rig. confirm by serial number of yer engine.

Harleyman I haven't check fuel pressure I just figured it was ok since the boat runs fine when you first start it up until you shut it off after it gets up to temp.

Marc I have tried advancing the throttle some when trying to start it while it's acting up however I read a post earlier that said try full throttle position but be ready to back it down if it fires?

09trnt and soggy thank you both for your insight I will look into both suggestions
