1978 Merc 4.5hp kicker Flush?

Do I need to flush in a tank or can I just put a hose close to the water pump inlet and do it that way? The muffs for my 70 don't fit it.

Years ago Tempo used to make a flush attachment for the small Mercurys but I don't know if they are still availabe or not, it's worth checking on.

Put it in the deepest tank or can you can find.The deeper the water the easier to pick up water.Jerry
