1978 merc 1150 inline 6 tlit trim?'s

Are there any motors that are interchangeable for this? I am not sure the original part number and have found some on ebay that look like they will work. It has the rectangle reservoir. Any help would be appreciated don't want to get the wrong part.

Any type I tilt/trim will work on your 115, from the 50HP to the 150HP. On the mid size engines 50-60-650 & 700 some of the hardware(attaching bolts and etc) were different than the large 4cyl & all of th inline 6 cyls that the only difference.

Thanks you for your answer. So this mean that the merc cruiser units will also work? I have been finding the replacement motors says it is for a vovlo, merccruiser or such? Does this stand to reason.

No, any outboard with cylinders on the outside of the transom brackets.

Are the trim pump/valve assy not the same, I/O or outboard? They sure look similar, especially the pre alpa 1 types.

Thats what I am seeing the pump and valves look the same as long as there are four hose connections I should be good.

The motor and pump are exactly the same the difference is the valve bodies all O/Bs have a manual tilt valve and I//Os don't.

So then what years will work for my motor? Assuming the valves are in working order. Do you know what years merc switch to a newer style where as the rectangular reservoir won't work?
