The trim tilt will start to work (up or down) for about 3 seconds then quit. I then wait about 10 seconds and it will run for another second or two. If I don't wait long enough I just get a "click" from the tilt/trim, but no movement. Help, taking 5 minutes to tilt the motor is starting to get old.

thanks

Re: 1978 Johnson: Stop and go Tilt/Trim

I am not fimiliar with omc, but it has to have a trim/tilt solenoid on it somewhere. This is the part, like on a starter, that when you push the button, it gives juice from the battery to your trim motor. use a wire or screwdrive to jump across and see what happens. If this isn't it, I would guess your electric motor may be to blame. Good Luck. Yell back if you need some more help.

try to lube all points on both the pivot mech. and the trim itself it might be an overload caused by lack of lube.....hope so anyways...
