Rig currently uses the single handle Johnson Command Center...I am simply not a fan..

Is it possible to swap/change over to a period correct OMC two handle unit?

I've never done it, but I know of no reason why it shouldn't work. Needless to say, you would have to remount the switch and stuff in the dash (including the tilt/trim switch). You would lose the start-in-neutral-only feature.

My personal preference would be the way it is, but I suppose different people are entitled to their opinion.

Leave it the way it is and you'll be better off. As F_R said you'll lose your start in gear protection. But to each his own.

All above comments are good ones. Bombardier used to make a dual handle control box you mentioned until just recently. 173286. It's been discontinued just a few years ago. A number of Bombardier dealers still have new stock on this part here in the U.S. Last time Bombardier sold this it was around $231-new. You may be able to find used ones from back in the 70's. Keep in mind some of these older dual lever boxes use the older (Pre 1979) type control cables.
