HELLO I HAVE A 1978 JOHNSON 85 HORSEPOWER OUTBOARD ON A BONITO BOAT AND I NEED TO KNOW HOW I INSTALL HYDRAULIC FLUID IN TILT?

In 1978, OMC made a combination trim/tilt system which mounted inside the two transom brackets. There is a reservoir on the starboard side of the system which has a screw midway up the side. You fill this reservoir up to the lip of the screw hole. Run the system up and down a few times, then add more fluid. It will self-bleed by doing this up/down cycling. Keep adding till the system stays at the full level.

Be sure to support the motor with the trail lock when adding fluid.
