1978 Johnson 4hp 4R78E. E?

I never see the full 4R78E model # listed on the front of the OEM manuals. Just 4R78, etc.. but the last letter E never shows up. I'm sure their probably pretty much the same but what does the never see E stand for? Thanks for any info.

Thanks but Im not having a problem getting parts just wondering what the "E" stands for in the model #.
