1978 Grady White 212 Chesapeake lower shift cable and interrupt switch

Does anyone kno where the lower shift cable is located i would like to pb last it before replacement and also the interrupt switch

The shift cable goes from the outdrive to the shift plate in the engine compartment. There is only one cable that does that, and that's the lower shift cable.

The shift interrupt switch is on that shift plate in the engine compartment. Why would you want to spray it ? If your engine is dying when you shift, the shift interrupt switch is doing it's job.

another person told me to check both,I just wanted to spray the shift cable at both ends to try to get a smoother shift.

i have to remove the outdrive to pb blast it

Yes, you have to remove the drive, but it should be removed yearly for other maintenance items anyway.

BUT,,,,,, if you think you can spray fix a shifting problem, you are going to be disappointed. When those drives don't shift smooth, then either need repairs or adjustments, or both.

I did read it but I didnt see it untill you mentioned it again, could I adjust both ends with out removing the drive.

There is no adjusting the drive side only the engine side.

How old is the cable?

What exactly are the symptoms you are having,
hard to shift?
stalling when trying to shift into neutral?

when i start the motor and let it idle for 10 min i shift into gear it slams then shuts off and wont start after that for awhile
