I did a lot of searching around the forums and found a lot of useful information that got my trim moving again, but unfortunately after about 5 seconds the motor will just quit and sometimes you can hear it bog down real good (starts to turn the wire red) before it quits. Wait about 30 seconds and you get a little bit more power. When the motor is actually moving everything seems to be moving right. I removed the motor and i can get about 20 seconds then it locks up again. Assuming maybe overheating??? I believe i need a new motor but before i go ordering one i was trying to make sure that nothing could be causing the unit to get into a bind and i burn up a new motor. Any help is greatly appreciated!

bracket that the trim was removed from is a 1978 115hp evinrude

it is probably rust inside the motor. if it was rusty gears in the pump then it would be less likely to ever run and more likely to be permanently seized.
